Calendar of Shooting Events for 2026

At the January 22, 2026 meeting for the member clubs, we awarded several donations to youth programs supported by several clubs. The fees are currently used only for 2 purposes. The first is to pay the costs for the calendar, such as hosting fees, software and domain registration, etc. All work for editing the site and record keeping is done on a volunteer basis. A small reserve is held for unexpected  costs. The remaining funds are distributed to youth and new shooter programs.

We are looking for feedback from the member clubs regarding a possible cost increase for the 2027 calendar. Fees were $10 prior to 2017 and increased to $20 in 2017. One of the members suggested that we might want to consider raising the annual fee to $30 to allow us to provide additional support. Please email the webmaster with your feedback. Thanks.

I was made aware
of a Facebook Page with exactly the same name as this website. Please note that
the 2 sites are under separate control, so if you want to post shoot information
on EastWisconsinShotgunSports.org, please be sure to send the information to the
email listed on this site. I have no access to the Facebook messages sent to the
Facebook page created in 2015. This website was created in 2003.

2026 Site Issues

As most of you probably know, I am not an IT professional or a website developer. In early February of 2026, I made the decision to move the site to a different hosting service. It was not done without a lot of investigation. I had been using Microsoft FrontPage as a site development and editing tool since the site’s inception in 2003. Since FrontPage would not run with Windows 11, which was a mandatory upgrade for my PC if I wanted the security updates for the computer, I needed to find a new editing software package. I did a bunch of research and selected a new hosting service. As part of the research, I asked a lot of questions about the software/tools each of the companies had for editing an existing site. I was assured that the software they had would work with my site.
After I made the switch to a shared hosting service at the new company, we discovered that, since the site was developed with very old tools, I needed to have the back end structure of the site re-built so I could use a more modern editing tool. The site was rebuilt by a professional to allow the use of WordPress. The professional used a plug-in for WordPress, which requires significant RAM resources, requiring me to do a second migration of the site to a VPS server rather than a shared server. After that migration, I still had a few issues to work out with the hosting service and the professional who re-wrote the background code. On April 4 the final issues were resolved so the site would load to my computer for editing. The next step was to become more Proficient with WordPress and Elementor.  I am slowly getting acclimated with the procedures to edit the site.  I was able to insert an Excel spreadsheet in the Event List with most of the changes I have been notified about since the site went down in early February. I have reviewed all my emails and letters to insure I didn’t miss anything. If you notice something missing, please email me or call me at 920-948-1694. I have also mastered the creation of links for attaching posters, shoot results, etc., so I now can update other pages and update the PDF schedule. I also had issues with the email linked to the site each time I made a migration to a different server. I believe those are resolved as of April 15, 2026. Thank you for your patience.

Young Hunters

Many of us are hunters as well as trap shooters. When should we start taking our children or grandchildren along with us? Check out the links page for an interesting article under  Miscellaneous Links titled : Young Hunters: When to get children started.

Occasional Site Outages

If anyone notes that the site is down, please email me at

webmaster@eastwisconsinshotgunsports.org

or call my cell at 920-948-1694
. I have the site monitored by the hosting company, but I would not mind a separate notification.
Thank you.
