The information provided on the Calendar of Events included on this site started as an idea by a couple of shooters from two gun clubs in the southern Fond du Lac County area of Wisconsin. The shooters from the Campbellsport Gun Club and the Eden Rod & Gun Club thought there might be some interest by the club's shooters in a listing of the date, location, and type of non-ATA trap shooting events scheduled in the area. Little did they realize that the calendar would become a shell bag essential for shooters from all over the east central Wisconsin area. In January of 2009 we decided to modify one of the pages to post the open shooting schedules for any of the member clubs. We hope the information is helpful. If you don't want to shoot one of the event shoots, come & join us for a practice round.
Why is the Shoot List Successful When we started generating the annual Trap and Sporting Clays calendar, our intent was to help shooters in the area find non-ATA events that they could attend. There are plenty of resources to help the ATA1 and NSCA2 shooters find Wisconsin and Midwest shotgun sports events that fit their schedule. It's much more difficult for the average recreational shooter to find a variety of Trap and Sporting Clays shoots. We talked with a number of the clubs in the area and put together an informal list of events, including a contact name and number for each club that could provide additional information. The next year people were asking if we were going to put the list together again. A more formal list was developed with input from the member clubs. We missed one year early in the history of the paper list, and we heard about it all year. We didn't miss another year. We begin collecting information in late December or early January and publish the list in early February. We started distributing the list with the statewide mailing of the ATA calendar. In 2003 we decided to step into the 21st century and publish the list on the web. As a result of this technology, we can easily update the list as necessary. A paper copy can still be made available at member clubs if desired. We hope to improve every year. We look forward to seeing you at one of our shoots.
